Meet the Jewelry Experts

Judith S. Anderson
President of Bijoux Extraordinaire, Ltd.

Judi began her gemological career at the young age of 13 when she won First Prize for a science fair exhibit on Crystallography.   The budding young gemologist continued her studies in the sciences (math, biology, physics) and the arts at Brandeis University and the University of New Hampshire, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Liberal Arts and a Major in Zoology.

Throughout those formative high school and college years, she studied the sciences while complementing her formal education with art courses in photography, drawing, ceramics and graphic arts.   Upon graduation, Judi attended the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California and graduated at the head of her class with a diploma of Graduate Gemologist in residence.

Krementz Art Nouveau brooch of serene woman and clover. (J9090) My interest in estate jewelry began at the young age of 10 when I first came across a pair of antique cufflinks in a thrift shop off of Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, Maryland.  Several months later a pair of lucite cufflinks with encased palm trees and sea horses arrived in a box of odd and ends from my grandfather
in Florida.  From such humble beginnings my passion for antique cufflinks only grew.

Through my years in college (Brown University) and while pursuing a career in finance (as an actuary) my interest expanded to all forms of antique and estate jewelry.  Although I focus on the beautiful jewels created during the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the United States and Europe, I am fascinated with jewelry from all periods and regions.  A sampling of estate pieces currently available can be found in the Antique and Estate Jewelry Gallery and the Antique Cufflinks Gallery.
