Antique Brooches and Pins

Antique brooches and pins are wonderful, diminutive works of art.  They are miniature masterpieces that bring the artistry, passions and craftsmanship of an earlier era into the present.  Below are brooches from the Victorian,  Art Nouveau,  Edwardian and Art Deco periods.

Carter dragon and crescent brooch. (J9384)

Dragon and Crescent  A beautifully sculpted chimera (dragon) flying past a crescent moon.  The fantastic beast is richly detailed with finely feathered wings, an intricately scaled serpent's body and a tail that morphs into twisting acanthus leaves.  A small green gem (perhaps an emerald or tourmaline) is set as the creature's eye.  Created by Carter, Howe & Co. in 14kt gold, circa 1890.

Art Nouveau Pearls An Art Nouveau brooch with flowing leaves and vines,  or are they wisps of smoke,  accented with three creamy pearls.  Crafted 14kt gold, circa 1900.    Cost:  $685

Hans Brassler star brooch. (J9329)

Radiant Star  The pointed rays of a star accented with small white pearls and centered with a rich purple amethyst.  Between the rays are golden fleurs de lys.  A radiant pendant-brooch created by Hans Brassler in 14kt gold, circa 1910.

Lilies and Lotus  Lotus blossoms and lilies frame a fiery red garnet in this diminutive Egyptian revival brooch.  Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1910.

Amethyst and Roses  A Hans Brassler brooch set with a rich amethyst, bright pearls and golden roses climbing a radiating trellis.  Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1910.    Cost:  $925

Art Nouveau Amethyst  An amethyst rests between the flowing wings of an exotic butterfly or bat.  Beneath the amethyst a small pearl glows like a distant full moon.  Created in 14kt gold, circa 1900.    Cost:  $785

Fly Away!  A wonderful brooch of a swallow in flight.  Among the Victorians swallows were a symbol of a traveler returning safely home.  Created by Riker Bros. in 14kt gold, circa 1900.    Cost:  Sold
