Brassler Coral Stickpin

Brassler stickpin with glowing angle skin coral. (J9130)

Angel Skin!

A glowing angel skin coral cabochon sits in the middle of flowing, golden scrolls.  With hints of Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts design,  the rich patina of the gold gives the stickpin a sense of ancient mystery.  Created by Hans Brassler in 14kt gold,  circa 1910.

Brassler was an innovative jeweler known for imaginative, artistic designs.  His work is characterized by beautiful gemstones and rich, sculptural gold work.  He was born in Germany,  studied at the Julian Academie in Paris and is reported to have won a gold medal for his designs Exposition Universelle in 1900.

The reverse of the stickpin is as beautifully crafted as the front and secured with a sturdy gold pin stem. (see photo below)

Cost:  $625

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is just over 2 3/4" long and weighs 3.0 grams.  The flowing, circular top is  5/8" in diameter.

In 1909, Hans Brassler founded The Brassler Company in Newark, New Jersey.  The maker's mark of the firm (a "14" followed by "B" in a double oval) is stamped on the reverse of the stickpin.  The mark is partially obscured by the pin stem in the above photo.  Hans Brassler worked with The Brassler Company for a brief six years during which time he created a small collection of wonderfully inventive, beautifully crafted jewels.
