Carrington Purple!

Striking purple enamel above an intricately engraved pattern of radiating, scalloped circles.  A beautiful example of the guilloche enamel cufflinks of the early 1900s.  The purple centers are surrounded by borders of white enamel and yellow gold edges.  Created by Carrington & Company in 14kt gold,  circa 1925.

The backs of the cufflinks are as well crafted as the fronts with the yellow gold polished to a mirror-like finish.  Note the sturdy cross bars and secure brackets with beveled ends, a design favored by Carrington & Company.  Careful attention to small details and the hidden parts of a cufflink was a hallmark of Carrington craftsmanship and design.

The maker's mark of Carrington & Company (a "C" surrounding a "14" for the purity of the gold) is stamped on the cross bars. Carrington was a maker of fine cufflinks and dress sets during the first half of the last century. The firm's cufflinks and other jewels were retailed by Tiffany & Co. and other carriage trade jewelers of the day.
