Ring Inspired by Ancient Egypt

Hand-crafted 18kt gold ring with a Spessartite garnet and diamonds. (J6421)

Eye of the Nile!

While designing this ring Judi was inspired by the ancient dynasties and arts of Egypt.  She created a jewel fit for a queen  -  perhaps Nefertiti,  Cleopatra or Hatshepsut.

The center stone is a fiery orange Spessartite garnet.  The Spessartite is cradled in a golden bezel and flanked by two Fancy Intense yellow diamonds.  The ring is hand-crafted in 18kt yellow gold with a satin finish.

Just below the yellow diamonds we created a line of channel-set colorless diamond.  The diamonds cascade down the curved shoulders of the ring like a glistening waterfall.  The diamonds add just the right touch of white brilliance to complement the blazing sunset hues of the Spessartite and yellow diamonds.

With this ring we wanted to capture the elegance of a Royal Barge floating serenely down the Nile.  The shape of the Spessartite garnet and its bezel setting represent the body of the boat.  The two yellow diamonds rise up like two lotus blossom pillars at the prow and bow,  while the cascading channel-set diamonds signify the mighty river.

Of course an imaginatively designed jewel must also be comfortable to wear.  We slightly flattened the inside of the band and rounded the edges so that the ring slides easily and rests comfortably on your finger.

As always,  a beautiful jewel is as well crafted and finished on the underside as it is on the top.  Note the polished surfaces,  the even under-bezel beneath the garnet and the smooth bridge between the band and the center setting.  Always turn over a jewel to make sure that the goldsmith took proper care and pride in creating the jewel.
