Art Nouveau BroochArt Nouveau! |
A wonderful diminutive Art Nouveau brooch of a strong, thoughtful woman framed by her flowing, untamed tresses. A dark pearl is set at the end of her golden headband. Crafted in 10kt gold, circa 1900. This jewel is a nice contrast to many Art Nouveau pieces where women are portrayed as either childlike creatures lost in a dream-like trance or femme fatales that are half woman, half insect.
This brooch is well crafted with a sturdy pin stem and early "C" clasp to secure the jewel on a blouse, lapel or hat. The back of the piece is crafted in 10kt gold polished to a matte finish.
The top of the "C" clasp is stamped with the maker's mark of Kohn & Co. - a "K" surrounded by "10" for the purity of the gold. Kohn & Co. was a maker of fine gold jewelry during the early decades of the 20th century. Name: Art Nouveau |
