Acanthus Leaf Cufflinks

During the Victorian era acanthus leaves were a symbol of Art and enduring life.  Among the ancient Greeks acanthus leaves were noted for there medicinal powers and associated with the healing god Apollo.

These cufflinks are well constructed with sturdy "bean" backs connected to the fronts with deeply curved split bridges.  The flare of the bridges assures that the links rest securely on the cuff and remain horizontal.

The cufflinks were crafted in the early 1900s by the jewelry firm Larter & Sons.  Founded in 1865, Larter & Sons has crafted distinctive gentleman's jewelry for nearly 150 years.  The cufflinks are stamped on the top of the bridge "14K" for the purity of the gold.  Just to the right of the gold mark is the maker's mark for Larter & Sons, a shirt stud design patented by the firm in 1898.
