Sapphire, Diamond and Garnet Pendant

18kt gold and platinum pendant with a garnet, sapphire and diamonds.

Renaissance Revival!

The Renaissance was an age of rebirth and cultural revival.  During the 1500s,  the classical past inspired new discoveries in the arts,  sciences and philosophy.

Our striking pendant was inspired by the beautiful jewels of this period,  especially as seen in the portraits of Holbein the Younger.

This pendant is hand crafted in 18kt gold and platinum and features a square radiant-cut rhodolite garnet.  The garnet glows with a deep raspberry-like color that is perfectly complemented by the warm tones of the yellow gold setting.  To the sides and beneath the center stone three round brilliant diamonds are set in platinum bezels.  And above,  a violet blue sapphire rests in a brightly polished platinum bail.

The artisans and jewelers of the Renaissance are known for the artistry of their creations and the meticulous detail of their work.  In creating this pendant we strove to follow both of these proud traditions.

Note the evenness and clean lines of the bezel settings which securely hold the gemstones.  The walls of the settings are thick and deep to give the jewel a sense of grandness,  while balancing the brilliance of the gemstones.  Like all great jewels this pendant has an impact without being overstated.

The pendant features a  "hidden bail"  crafted in platinum and tucked away behind the bezel-set sapphire.  The bail is designed so that,  when the pendant is suspended on a necklace or choker,  it appears to float in mid air.

The three diamonds are bezel-set in platinum collets that match the height of the center stone.  The column-like collets are tapered toward the rear to create a refined look.

Like the Renaissance jewelers,  our hallmark ("BEL") is placed on the underside of each jewel we create.  The piece is also marked with the purity of the precious metals  (platinum and 18kt gold)  from which it was crafted.  These hallmarks are your assurance of excellence in craftsmanship and design.
