Star sapphires are wonderful, mysterious gemstones that come alive when set in white gold or platinum. The star effect, known as "asterism," is caused by tiny silk-like inclusions that are trapped within the sapphire. The inclusions bend light entering the sapphire and create a six ray star.
This hand-crafted platinum ring features a purple star sapphire that weighs 4.2 carats. The sapphire is a rounded oval set in a bezel of cool platinum.
 The star sapphire appears to gracefully float within a narrow band of platinum, but from the side you can see how thick and sturdy the ring actually is. This ring is beautifully designed and crafted to last a lifetime.
 The bezel setting beneath the star sapphire is pierced with "half moon" cut outs. They give the setting a more open and airy feel. Since stars and moons are celestial siblings, the half-moon cut-outs are a perfect complement to the solitary star sapphire. |
 As with all Bijoux jewels, the inside of this ring is finished as nicely as the top. The underside of the bezel is crisp, symmetrical and beautifully polished. Also note the slightly flattened inner surface of the band which creates a more comfortable fit on your finger.
 As with all the jewels we create, this ring displays the Bijoux Extraordinaire registered hallmark ("BEL"). The precious metal mark ("PLAT") for the platinum is stamped on the opposite side of the band. These hallmarks are your assurance of beautiful design and superior craftsmanship.
