Mysteries of the Sphinx!
A dramatic 18kt gold pendant featuring an iridescent pyrite,  amethyst and pink tourmaline.

Inspired by the mysteries of ancient Egypt,  this pendant features a relatively new gemstone recently discovered in Russia - iridescent pyrite.   This naturally occurring gemstone offers a shimmering rainbow of colors which arise from a surface covered with glittering micro-crystals.   The effect is very reminiscent of the iridescent effects achived by L.C. Tiffany in his art glass.

Above the iridescent pyrite is a bezel-set facetted amethyst.   To either side,  two pink tourmalines are set in flames of 18kt gold.

This beautiful pendant can be worn on a round snake chain or as a slide on a wider necklace,  such as a domed-omega choker.   A truly versatile piece of jewelry,  the cleverly hidden bail is designed accommodate a range of necklace thicknesses and lengths.

Of course,  this beautiful pendant can be created with other gemstones.   Instead of iridescent pyrite,  the triangular drop could be rainbow hematite,  onyx,  lapis lazuli,  sugilite or even malachite.   Or,  instead of amethyst and pink tourmalines you might consider any combination of the following: apatite,  peridot,  sapphire,  ruby,  emerald,  diamond,  iolite,  citrine or the many flavors of garnet (rhodolite, tsavorite, grape, etc...).   Both facetted and cabochon gemstones could be used.
