Star sapphires are wonderful, mysterious gemstones that come alive when accented with sparkling, bright diamonds. The star effect, known as "asterism", is caused by tiny silk-like inclusions within the crystalline structure of the sapphire. These inclusions bend the light entering the sapphire and create a six ray star-like effect.
This custom ring features a violet-blue star sapphire that weighs nearly 6 carats. The sapphire is a round cabochon and is set in a cool platinum bezel. The two side diamonds are round brilliants, also set in platinum bezels.
 The star sapphire and diamonds appear to float in their platinum bezels above the tapered band of the ring. Because of the depth of the star sapphire, we raised the bezels to create a dramatic look.
 Beneath the star sapphire and diamonds the bezel settings are opened with "trapezoidal" cut outs. These give the ring an open and airy look that best shows off the dramatic shape of the sapphire. |
 As with all Bijoux jewels, the inside of this ring is finished as nicely as the top. The undersides of the bezels are crisply finished, symmetrical and beautifully polished. Also note the slightly flattened inner surface of the band which creates a more comfortable, secure fit on your finger.
 As with all the jewels we create, this ring displays the Bijoux Extraordinaire registered hallmark ("BEL") and the precious metal mark ("PLAT") for the platinum. These hallmarks are your assurance of beautiful design, superior craftsmanship and lasting quality.
