Antique Sapphire StickpinLaurels and Sapphire |
A sparkling sapphire rests in a finely crafted
network of golden, interlocking scrolls and geometric
shapes. Beneath the sapphire are three pendant laurel
leaves. A wonderful example of the imaginative stickpins
created by Alling & Co. in the early years of the last
century. Created in 14kt gold, circa 1900.
This stickpin is finely crafted with a sturdy bezel holding and protecting the sapphire. A sturdy gold pin stem secures the jewel on a wearer's lapel, tie or scarf. On the reverse you can see the careful construction of the intricate design. The maker's mark of Alling & Co. (a shamrock enclosing a "14" and "A") is stamped on the upper left reverse (see photo below). Cost: $465
