Dragon and Turquoise Cufflinks

Guardian Dragons

Chinese dragons with toothy smiles guard sky blue turquoise.  The dragons watch vigilantly with equal parts benevolence and ferocity.  These finely sculpted, richly detailed cufflinks were created in 14kt gold, circa 1890.

In the late 19th century jewelers in America and Europe found inspiration in the cultures and craftsmanship of East Asia.  The art and designs of Japan and China were particularly strong influences.  These cufflinks are an especially elegant example of East meeting West.

The solid gold backs of these cufflinks are as well crafted as the fronts.  Please note the sturdy cross bars and ribbed brackets which secure the cufflinks on the cuff.  Beneath the brackets "14K" is stamped for the purity of the gold.
