Art Deco Coral StickpinCool Elegance |
A stunning coral cabochon set in a sculpted
platinum frame with two Art Deco swirls. The cool
brilliance of the platinum plays beautifully against the warm,
pinkish tones of the coral. Crafted in 14kt gold and
platinum, circa 1930.
During the middle years of the Art Deco period jewels were created with a cool, sophisticated elegance. This stick pin with its dramatic play of color and sensuous curves is a striking example. The reverse of the stickpin is finely crafted in 14kt yellow gold. Note the strong gold pin stem which secures the jewel when worn and the sturdy prongs which secure the coral in the bezel (photo below). On the upper pin stem is stamped "14" and a maker's mark obscured by the curvature of the pin stem. Cost: $465
