Art Nouveau Swan Pin with DiamondsSwan Brooch! |
The jewelers of the Art Nouveau period (1890 to 1910) were masters at creating diminutive, life-like flowers in enamel and gold. This wonderful brooch features two sinuous swans framing a cluster of enamel tulips. Above the stylized flowers three sparkling diamonds are set, like dew drops, on a beautifully enameled background.
Crafted in 14kt gold, this brooch was created by Krementz & Company around 1900. Krementz was one of the premier makers of Art Nouveau jewels in the United States. One of their hallmarks was the use of pastel enamels, like the soft yellows, greens and whites of this brooch. Cost: Although this beautiful brooch has sold, you will find many more fine brooches in the Antique Brooch Gallery. |
The clasp of the pin shows the hallmark of Krementz & Company - a stylized cuff or collar button. Krementz was founded in 1866 and made many wonderful enamel and gold flower jewels during the late Victorian and Art Nouveau periods. The opposite side of the clasp is stamped "14K".
