Engraved Mother-of-Pearl Dress SetCarrington Fireworks |
Carrington & Company created some of the
finest dress sets during the Art Deco era. This pearl and
mother-of-pearl set is among them. The mother-of-pearl
centers are beautifully engraved with a pattern reminiscent of
exploding fireworks while the swirling scrolls of the white gold
borders bring to mind a starry night. At the center a
small pearl rests in a white gold collar with a mille grain
edge. Created in 14kt gold, circa 1925. Complementing the cufflinks are three shirt studs and four vest buttons. The shirt studs and vest buttons repeat the elegant design of the cufflinks. The vest buttons (one pictured above) are the same size as the cufflinks, 9/16" in diameter. The shirt studs (pictured below) are just over 5/16" in diameter and 1" long. Carrington & Company was a maker of fine cufflinks and dress sets during the first half of the 20th century. The firm's gold and platinum jewels were often retailed by Tiffany & Company and other carriage trade jewelers of the day. Carrington cufflinks and dress sets were known for elegant design, exquisite materials and impeccable craftsmanship. The reverse of the cufflinks, shirt studs and vest buttons are as beautifully crafted as the fronts. The backs are crafted in 14kt yellow gold and polished to a bright finish. Please excuse the reflections from my camera. Sturdy brackets and cross bars secure the links on the cuff.
The maker's mark for Carrington &
Company, a "C" surrounding
"14", is visible on the backs.
