Carrington Tuxedo SetClassic Pearls |
An elegant tuxedo set with pearl and
mother-of-pearl centers. The shimmering
mother-of-pearl centers are framed with white gold borders
polished to a bright finish The pearls are set in small
white gold cups with bead-like (millegrain) edges. Created
by Carrington & Company in 14kt gold, circa 1930. |
The backs of the cufflinks are beautifully crafted in 14kt yellow gold. Carrington & Company's attention to fine detail can be seen in the sturdy cross bars and the strong brackets that secure the cufflinks on the cuff. The shirt studs are similarly well constructed. (Please excuse the shadowy reflections from the camera.)
The maker's mark of Carrington & Company (a squared "C" enclosing "14") is stamped on the reverse of the cufflinks. Carrington was one of the preeminent makers of fine cufflinks and tuxedo sets during the first half of the 20th century. Known for its gentleman's accessories, Carrington cufflinks and tuxedo sets were retailed by Tiffany & Company and other carriage-trade jewelers of the day.
