Carrington Pearl and MOP Tuxedo Set
Carrington Tuxedo Set
| During the first half of the last century
Carrington & Company was a renowned maker of elegant dress
and tuxedo sets. This wonderful tuxedo set (cufflinks and
shirt studs en suite) features mother of pearl
tops centered with small pearls in millgrained settings and
surrounded by reeded white gold borders. Crafted in 14kt
gold, circa 1920.
As with all fine jewels, you should examine cufflinks closely from every direction. The backs of these cufflinks are crafted in 14kt yellow gold. You can see the maker's attention to detail in the sturdy brackets and cross bars that secure the links.
Complementing the cufflinks are three shirt studs (one pictured above). Like the cufflinks, the studs are crafted in 14kt gold with pearl and mother-of-pearl tops.
The mark of Carrington & Company is a "C" surrounding "14". Carrington & Company was a maker of fine cufflinks and tuxedo sets from 1900 to the 1940s. Carrington was based in Newark, New Jersey and supplied beautiful 14kt and 18kt gold cufflinks to many of the finest jewelers of the day.
