Art Nouveau Stickpin

Carter, Howe Art Nouveau stickpin of woman and pansy. (J9166)

La Pensee

Beauty, wisdom, strength ... all are embodied in this Art Nouveau stickpin of woman framed by a golden pansy and a hint of the rising sun.  Finely sculpted in 14kt gold,  circa 1900.

Art Nouveau jewelers in the years around 1900  created beautiful jewels embracing themes of myth, fantasy, nature and the surreal.  This stick pin is a wonderful example.

The back of the stickpin is crafted in solid gold to which a sturdy pin stem anchored in a secure collet.  To the left of the pin stem is stamped "14" for the purity of the gold and to the right is the maker's mark of Carter, Howe & Company.  Carter, Howe was a maker of fine stickpins and other jewels in the decades around 1900.

Cost:  Although this elegant stickpin has sold,  you will find many more fine stickpins in the Antique Stickpin Gallery.

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is  2 1/4" long and weighs 1.7 grams.  The top measures just under  1/2" by  7/16".
