Acorns and Oak Leaf StickpinAcorns and Oak! |
An oak leaf and two acorns suspend from a small branch. The oak leaf is beautifully enameled with shimmering shades of green, yellow and pink. The acorns are set with two small pearls. Crafted in 18kt and 14kt gold, circa 1900.
During the Art Nouveau era beautiful enamel jewels were created following natural themes. This stickpin bears a small hallmark indicating that it was imported into Vienna, Austria in the early 1900s. Possibly of French or American origin, the stickpin is a wonderful example of the nature-inspired jewels of the era. In the photograph below note the sturdy wirework that supports and protects the enameled oak leaf and the golden acorn caps. The small "smudge" on the left side of the pin stem is the Austrian import mark.
