Hand Engraved Platinum Ring
& Trillium Pink Sapphire

The ring is beautifully hand engraved with flowing,  romantic scrolls.   Within the swirling scrolls we sprinkled eight sparkling diamonds for an added touch of brilliance.  This ring is an elegant variation of our  Solitaire Scrolls  design.

The sapphire is a natural rich pink that has not been heat treated.  It is securely held in a three-prong setting with an engraved gallery.  We hand crafted the ring so that the setting would perfectly match the shape and size of the sapphire.

The richly engraved scrolls flow down the shoulders and sides of the ring.  The edges of the band and setting are milgrained with a small bead-like pattern for an added touch of elegance.

The shoulders of the ring narrow as they rise up to meet the sapphire.  This creates a cathedral-like setting for the gemstone and keeps the ring from looking heavy or blocky.

Although the narrowing shoulders presented a challenge,  our engraver masterfully continued the flowing scrolls in the smaller space.  The talent of a master craftsman is most apparent in small details.  For an added touch of sparkle,  we set six small diamonds in the swirling scrolls along the top surface of the ring from the shoulders down to the base.

Swirling scrolls flow gracefully along the circumference of the band like rolling waves along a beach.  Hand engraving a ring like this requires an artist's eye for detail,  a steady hand and several days on the jeweler's bench.

In this side view you can see the symmetry of the design and the care with which the ring was created.  Note the thickness of the band throughout its circumference and the sturdiness of the setting.  This ring was designed to wear beautifully for several generations.  We also set a small diamond in the upper gallery of the mounting.

Viewing the inside of the ring,  you can see the symmetry of the design and the care with which it was hand crafted.  The underside of the ring is smoothly finished with crisp symmetrical edges and a beautiful polish.

At the base of the ring is an engraved four petal flower set with a sparkling diamond.  The small flower is the engraver's mark.  When engraving a ring,  the engraver first creates a mark to center the design and then works outward up the sides of the ring.  This center mark is often unique and serves as the engraver's hidden signature.
