| A striking Mid-century brooch set with an
elegant purple amethyst surrounded by flaring golden rays.
The amethyst's color plays beautifully against the glow of the
softly textured gold, while the gem's shape is mirrored by the
elongated design of the jewel. Created in 14kt gold, circa
1940.
 The back of the brooch is finely crafted with crisply defined edges and smooth, polished surfaces. A sturdy pin stem and safety clasp secure the jewel when worn on a lapel, hat or jacket. With a little care this brooch will survive the next 80 years as beautifully as it has the last.
 The top of the clasp is stamped "14K" for the purity of the gold. To the left of the gold mark is an unidentified maker's mark resembling a child's top lying on its side. Name: Mid-century Amethyst A Jewel for a Wine Lover
