Tanzanite and Heart-Shape Diamond
Engraved Platinum Ring

With our client we created a hand-engraved platinum ring with two heart-shape diamonds accented by 30 smaller round brilliant-cut diamonds!

The tanzanite is a gorgeous,  velvety blue color with flashes of violet.  Its color and rounded cushion shape give the ring a dramatic boldness.  To balance the rich color and bold shape of the center stone,  we selected a matched pair of elegant heart-shape diamonds.

Beneath the heart-shape diamonds,  we bead set twelve small brilliant-cut diamonds along the shoulders of the ring.  The sparkle of the diamonds is complemented by the richly hand-engraved surfaces and milgrained edges of the ring.

The tanzanite is set in a  "French double-prong" setting with a total of eight prongs.  This provides extra protection for the tanzanite.

In creating a three-stone ring,  the setting and positioning of the gemstones is critical.  Here the tanzanite is set at the perfect height relative to the heart-shape diamonds and with the diamonds set at a slight angle to create a smooth, even flow across the top of the ring.  You do not want to see any unsightly gaps or distracting breaks between the gemstones.  Since we hand build our three-stone rings,  we can precisely control the setting and layout of the gemstones.

We could not resist one last touch of elegance,  so we set another eighteen sparkling diamonds across the upper gallery.  The edges of the galleries were then hand milgrained.  We take great pride in the small elegant details that make our custom rings unique!
