Art Deco Sapphire Stickpin

Art Deco sapphire and diamond stickpin. (J9277)

Sapphire Geometry

A cluster of interlacing squares cradles a bright blue sapphire and small sparkling diamond.  An elegant example of Art Deco design created by Whiteside & Blank in 14kt gold, circa 1925.

Whiteside & Blank was a maker of fine stickpins, cufflinks and brooches during the late 19th and early 20th century.  The firm was known for imaginative, striking designs executed with a high standard of craftsmanship.  Whiteside & Blank's jewelry was retailed at Tiffany & Company and other leading jewelers of the day.

The maker's mark of Whiteside & Blank (an arrow piercing a crescent) is stamped on the reverse of the stickpin along with "14" for the purity of the gold.  The photograph below shows the marks on the lower right as well as the care with which the stickpin was created.

Cost:  $435

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is 2 1/4" long and weighs 2.0 grams.  The top is  11/16" tall and 9/16" wide.
