Whiteside & Blank Stickpin

Whiteside and Blank roses and peridot stickpin. (J9422)

Roses and Peridot

Rose blossoms, a curling acanthus leaf and hanging bellflowers frame a vibrant green gemstone (likely a peridot).  A band of white enamel provides contrast along the inner edge
of the pin.  This finely detailed stickpin is a celebration of Spring with its symbols of love (roses), health (acanthus) and gratitude (bellflowers).  An auspicious talisman for any wearer.  Created by Whiteside & Blank in 14kt gold, circa 1900.

Whiteside & Blank was a maker of finely crafted stickpins, cufflinks and other jewels during the late Victorian era and early decades of the 20h century.  The maker's mark of the firm (an arrow piercing a crescent moon) is stamped on the lower left of the back along with "14" for the purity of the gold (see photo below).

Cost:  $465

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is just over 2 5/8" long and the rose and acanthus top measures 5/8" by 7/16".  The stickpin weighs 2.2 grams.
