![]() Sumptuous Gold and Enamel Brooch![]() Gilded Age Splendor |
A beautiful brooch from the early 1900s with
richly detailed gold and enamel work framing a finely engraved
blue guilloche enamel center. The edges of the goldwork
are highlighted with white enamel and the cardinal points are
embellished with budding fleurs-de-lis set with small
pearls. A masterwork of the jeweler's art created by
Wordley, Allsopp & Bliss circa 1910.
![]() This brooch is finely crafted with a strong pin stem and early safety clasp to secure the jewel when worn. The back is solid gold to protect the intricate enamel work and fine gold work on the front. Note the clean edges of the cutout work around the fleurs-de-lis and the smooth, even finish of the gold. No effort was spared in tending to the small details of this brooch.
![]() The top of the clasp is stamped with the maker's mark of Wordley, Allsopp & Bliss ("WAB"), a maker of fine brooches and other jewels during the early decades of the last century. Beneath the maker's mark "14K" is stamped for the purity of the gold. Name: Gilded Age Splendor |
