Art Deco Diamond Stickpin

Art Deco Diamonds

An Art Deco stickpin sparkling with seven Old European-cut diamonds set in a ring of black onyx.  The sparkling diamonds and contrasting onyx are surrounded by a white gold border of scrolling vines and foliage.  This elegant stickpin was created in 14kt white and yellow gold circa 1925.

The back and side views of the stickpin (below) show the care with which it was created.  The back was crafted in yellow gold and is partially open revealing the pavilions (undersides) of the Old European-cut diamonds.  The stickpin is secured when worn by a sturdy pin stem.  Note, the upper end of the pin stem is stamped "14K" for the purity of the gold.
Cost:  Although this elegant stickpin has sold,  you will find many more fine stickpins in the Antique Stickpin Gallery.

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is 2 3/4" long and weighs 2.4 grams.  The seven diamonds weigh approximately 0.40 carats in total.  The diamond and onyx top is 1/2" in diameter.

Old European Cut Diamonds

The Old European cut of diamonds was common in the late Victorian era and early 1900s.  By the 1920s and 30s modern and transitional brilliant cuts were more prevalent.  We suspect that the seven diamonds set in this stickpin may have been rescued from an older jewel, possible a damaged brooch, when this stickpin was created.
