Art Deco Diamond StickpinDiamond-in-Sapphire |
An elegant stickpin custom created with a
bright Old European-cut diamond set in the center of a
torus-cut, man-made sapphire. The sapphire and diamond are
set in platinum bezels with finely millegrained edges.
Crafted in 14kt gold and platinum, circa 1920.
The diamond weighs approximately 1/3 of a carat, perhaps a little more, The Old European cut was favored in the decades around 1900. The man-made sapphire is cut as a torus, essentially a donut with an open center. The sapphire is a translucent, elegant blue that beautifully complements the sparkle of the diamond. This stickpin was finely crafted with an open back and sturdy struts bridging the outer and inner bezels (see photo below). Cost: Although this elegant stickpin has sold, you will find many more fine stickpins in the Antique Stickpin Gallery. |
