Brassler Scarab Stickpin

Hans Brassler amazonite scarab stickpin. (SP9330)

Brassler Scarab

A Hans Brassler stickpin with a shimmering amazonite set in a gold frame representing the wings and body of a scarab.  The design is an imaginative blend of Egyptian Revival, Art Nouveau and early Art Deco influences.  Created in 14kt gold, circa 1910.

Hans Brassler was a wonderfully creative jeweler who worked in the early 1900s.  Born in Germany, he studied design at the Academie Julian in Paris and earned a gold medal at the 1900 Exposition Universelle.  Later he emigrated to the United States, worked with Tiffany & Co. for a period and then founded his own jewelry design workshop, The Brassler Company, in 1909.  Brassler was associated with the firm for about six years during which time he created an extraordinary collection of strikingly original jewels.

Cost:  $465

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is 2 9/16" long and weighs 2.8 grams.  The scarab top is just over 5/8" tall and 1/2" wide.
