Lapis Lazuli StickpinLapis Lazuli |
Intensely blue lapis lazuli sparkles with golden accents
(small specks of pyrite) beneath flowing Art Nouveau
curves and classically inspired laurel wreath
borders. A wonderful example of the elegant, finely
sculpted jewels created by Hans Brassler. Crafted in 14kt
gold, circa 1910.
Hans Brassler was a wonderfully imaginative jeweler who around 1910 created a unique collection of stickpins and other small jewels. He often wedded elements of Art Nouveau, Art Deco and classical design to create striking miniature works of sculpture.
This stickpin is beautifully crafted with a sturdy gold pin stem to secure the jewel on a lapel or scarf. The maker's mark of The Brassler Company, a double oval enclosing "14" followed by a "B", is stamped on the lower reverse partially hidden by the pin stem. Cost: $665 |
