Carrington Jade Cufflinks
| Handcrafted Carrington cufflinks with dark
translucent jades set in gold bezels. When
held up to the light the jades glow like a miniature stained
glass windows or hemlock boughs beneath the winter sun.
The bezels are finely engraved with foliage and scrolls for an
added touch of elegance. Created by Carrington and Company
in 14kt gold, circa 1915.
The backs of the cufflinks are as beautifully crafted as the fronts. Note the sturdy gold framework that protects the reverse of the jade ovals and anchors the bezels. Strong cross bars and brackets secure the cufflinks on the cuff.
The maker's mark of Carrington & Company (a squared "C"
enclosing "14") is stamped on the crossbars.
Carrington & Company was a maker of fine cufflinks and dress sets during the first half of the 20th century. The firm worked with fine materials and exceptional craftsmanship to create elegant cufflinks retailed by Tiffany & Co. and other carriage-trade jewelers of the day.
