Carrington Pearl Cufflinks
Laurel Wreath and Pearl
| Elegant platinum borders of stylized laurel
wreathes frame bright mother-of-pearl centers set with small,
luminous pearls. An elegant example of the sophisticated
white-on-white cufflinks created during the early decades of the
20th century. Finely crafted by Carrington & Co. in
14kt gold and platinum, circa 1920.
The backs of the cufflinks are crafted with 14kt yellow gold polished to a mirror-like finish (please excuse the shadowy reflections from the camera). On the cuff the cufflinks are secured with sturdy cross bars and strong brackets - an indication of the maker's attention to small, hidden details.
These cufflinks were created by Carrington & Company. The Carrington maker's mark, a squared "C" enclosing a gold purity mark ("14") is stamped on the reverse of the cufflinks. On the other side of the brackets "GOLD&PLAT." is stamped to indicate the precious metals - gold and platinum.
During the first half of the 20th century Carrington & Company created elegantly designed cufflinks with the finest materials and impeccable craftsmanship. The firm's cufflinks and other jewels were retailed at Tiffany & Co. and other fine jewelers of the day.
