Carter Amethysts

Elegant amethysts set in gold bean back cufflinks.  The antique gold has a slight ruddy blush that plays beautifully against the regal purple hues of the gemstones.  Created by Carter, Howe & Co. in 14kt gold circa 1900.

These cufflinks are finely crafted and secured on the cuff with sturdy curved bridges and ample bean backs. The bean backs are hand-engraved in flowing Victorian script with the initials of the original owner, "F.C.S."

The bridges are stamped with the maker's mark of Carter, Howe & Co. (an arrowhead enclosing a small "C").  Carter, Howe (later succeeded by Carter, Gough) was an esteemed maker of fine cufflinks, stickpins and other jewels during the Victorian era and early 20th century.

Name:  Carter Amethysts

Cost:  $645

Measurements:  The oval tops of these cufflinks are just over 5/8" by 3/8".  The cufflinks weigh a total of 6.8 grams.
