Elegant Edwardian Tuxedo SetElegantly Engraved |
Finely engraved platinum centers overgrown with a
leafy tangle of vines surrounded by yellow gold borders with
scrolling acanthus leaves. The fineness and depth of the
engraving gives this tuxedo set an elegant, radiant glow.
Created by Ehrlich & Sinnock in 14kt gold and platinum circa
1910.
The cufflinks are complemented by three shirt studs with the same finely engraved borders and centers. The flowing leaf and vine decoration of the cufflinks and shirt studs brings to mind the rich floral and foliate designs which often embellished Renaissance manuscripts and tapestries.
The reverse of the cufflinks and shirt studs are crafted in 14kt yellow gold. The cufflinks are secured by curved cross bars anchored with sturdy loop brackets. The edges of the cufflinks and brackets are gently rounded to ease the passage of the cufflinks through a button hole.
The crossbars are stamped with the maker's mark of Ehrlich & Sinnock ("E&S") and "14K" for the purity of the gold. The backs of the shirt studs are similarly marked. Ehrlich & Sinnock was a maker of fine cufflinks and other jewels based in Newark, New Jersey until the firm closed during the Great Depression (1931).
