Platinum is one of the most beautiful precious metals. But, because of platinum's strength and resiliency, it is also one of the more difficult metals to work with. To create a beautiful jewel in platinum a bench jeweler needs many years of experience, a high degree in skill and a passion for excellence. These are all criteria we insist upon when we select a platinum smith to create a ring for one of our clients. In the picture to the left, you can see the clean smooth edges of the ring. Note, the graceful way that the side of the ring tapers to meet the narrow end of the baguette diamond. Also, note the sturdy elegance of the prongs that securely hold the center diamond. All hallmarks of a master craftsman! |
An important characteristic of a well-made ring is the thickness (or "gauge") of the band. If the band is too thin, it can quickly wear away. For this ring we maintained an even thickness throughout the circumference of the band. This creates a ring that will last several generations and keep on going and going.....just like the Energizer Bunny! All fine jewelry should be as nicely finished on the inside as it is on the outside. Note the smooth polished surface, the crisp edges and symmetrical cut-out beneath the center stone. Consumer Tip: When considering a piece of jewelry always turn it over and examine it from the underside. |
Our client asked us to create a custom wedding band to fit around and accent their new engagement ring. They choose the above design with tapered baguette diamonds. Whenever we create an engagement ring we can also help our clients create a wedding band that perfectly complements it.
Above is an example of this ring with an 18kt yellow gold band and platinum prongs holding the center diamond. This ring can be created with the center stone of your choice, whether it is a round, square or emerald-cut diamond, or a colored gemstone such as ruby, sapphire, emerald or tanzanite. The possibilities are limitless! You choose the gemstones and precious metals and we'll do the rest. |
