White Coral Tuxedo Set
Elegant White Coral
| Subtly shimmering white coral set in yellow
gold. This Art Deco tuxedo set elegantly plays with the
contrast between the textured white of the coral and the bright
warmth of the polished gold. Created by Sansbury &
Nellis in 14kt gold, circa 1920.
The cufflinks are complemented by three matching
shirt studs set with round white coral tops.
The backs of the cufflinks and shirt studs are as nicely finished as the fronts. Note the maker's attention to detail in the sturdy strap brackets and strong cross bars that secure the links on the cuff.
The backs of the shirt studs are stamped with the maker's mark of Sansbury & Nellis ("S-N"). Below the maker's mark is "14K" for the purity of the gold. The backs of the cufflinks are also stamped with the "14K" gold purity mark.
Sansbury & Nellis was founded around 1900. The firm was known for creating fine cufflinks and dress sets featuring beautiful gemstones. Often less common gemstones like white coral and the many varieties of quartz were favored.
