Laurel Wreath and Opal Stickpin

Whiteside and Blank wreath and opal stickpin. (J9495)

Laurels and Opal

The triumphal elegance of a golden laurel wreath framing an iridescent, sparkling opal.  The wreath is beautifully detailed with a small diamond set at its base.  Created by Whiteside & Blank in 14kt gold, circa 1900.

Whiteside & Blank was a maker of finely crafted, elegantly designed stickpins and brooches during the early years of the last century.  Although unsigned,  the stickpin is attributed to the maker based on the level of craftsmanship and similar jewels signed by the Whiteside & Blank.

On the reverse of the stickpin a sturdy pin stem is attached to the back with strong collet (see photo below).  The solid back of the wreath provides a sturdy framework to support and protect the opal.  On the right of the reverse "14K" is stamped for the purity of the gold.

Cost:  $585

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is just over  2 3/8" long and weighs 2.4 grams.  The laurel wreath is  5/8" tall and  1/2" wide.
