Art Deco Sapphire Cufflinks
Sapphires and Swags
| Sparkling blue sapphires set beneath hanging
golden garlands and swags. The neoclassical inspired
centers are surrounded by dramatic white gold borders engraved
with a repeating chevron pattern. An elegant example of
Art Deco design. Created by Ziething & Co. in 10kt
gold, circa 1925.
The backs of the cufflinks are as beautifully crafted as the fronts. The surfaces are polished to a mirror-like finish and strong cross bars and brackets secure the cufflinks on the cuff. Note the sturdy "quad" brackets that protect the backs of the sapphires.
The maker's mark of Ziething & Company (a "Z" inside a vertical lozenge) is stamped on the cross bars. Ziething & Co. was a maker of distinctive cufflinks and fine jewelry during the Art Deco era. The opposite side of the cross bar is marked "10K" for the purity of the gold.
