Hans Brassler Pearl Brooch

Hans Brassler pearl brooch. (J9387)

Ancient Pearl

A hint of ancient Egypt graces this small pearl brooch created by Hans Brassler.  Brassler was a wonderfully imaginative jeweler who in the early 1900s created elegant, distinctive jewels that were uniquely his own.  This example was crafted in 14kt gold circa 1910.

The care Brassler took in creating a jewel can be seen on the back of this brooch where the edges are sharp and the surfaces smoothly finished.  Brassler strove to make every aspect of a jewel a beautiful, balanced part of the design.

Brassler's craftsmanship can also be seen in the early safety clasp and sturdy pin stem which will securely hold this jewel when worn.  The top of the safety clasp is stamped with the maker's mark of The Brassler Company - "14B" inside a double oval.
