![]() Egyptian Revival Pearl Brooch![]() Ancient Pearl |
A hint of ancient Egypt or, perhaps, classical
Greece graces this small pearl brooch created by Hans
Brassler. Brassler was a wonderfully gifted jeweler who in
the early 1900s often drew upon ancient cultures to create
distinctive jewels uniquely his own. This elegant example was
crafted in 14kt gold circa 1910.
![]() Brassler was a master designer/craftsman who strove to make every element of a jewel a beautiful and balanced part of the design. The care he took in creating a jewel can be seen on the back of this brooch where the smoothly polished gold surfaces are finished with sharp, crisp edges.
![]() Brassler's care can also be seen in the sturdy safety clasp and pin stem which securely hold this jewel when worn. The top of the safety clasp is stamped with the maker's mark of The Brassler Company - "14B" inside a double oval. Name: Ancient Pearl
