Elegantly Engraved CufflinksGold and Platinum |
Resplendent gold centers finely engraved with
stylized foliate and floral motifs. The surrounding bright
platinum borders are decorated with vine-like scrolls. This
elegant pair of vibrant cufflinks reflects the jazzy spirit of
the 1920s. Created by J.R. Wood & Sons, circa 1920.
The cufflinks are beautifully crafted with sturdy ornamental brackets and linked cross bars. The backs are crafted in 14kt gold and have a smooth, mirror-like finish - please excuse the shadowy reflections from my camera. It is the small details that make this pair of cufflinks exceptional.
The cross bars are stamped "PLAT" and "14K" for the purity of the precious metals. To the right of the purity marks is an indistinct maker's mark. Based on the design of the brackets and crossbars, I believe these cufflinks were created by J.R. Wood & Sons. J.R. Wood was a maker of fine cufflinks, wedding rings and other jewels founded in 1850. The firm was based in Brooklyn, New York and especially known for the elegance of its engraving. Name: Gold and Platinum |
