Amethyst and Pearl Brooch

Krementz Art Nouveau amethyst and pearl brooch. (J9052)

Amethyst and Pearls!

A striking Art Nouveau brooch with pastel enamel leaves and pearl clusters surrounding a regal amethyst.  A small diamond sparkles at the top of the brooch like a distant star.  Created by Krementz & Company in 14kt gold, circa 1900.

This brooch is beautifully crafted.  It is secured with a sturdy pin and early safety clasp.  Note the gold framework that supports the enamel leaves, pearls and amethyst.  A chatelaine hook beneath the pin stem allows a small watch or other pendant to hang below the brooch.

One side of the clasp displays the maker's mark of Krementz & Company - a stylized collar button.  The other side is stamped "14K" for the purity of the gold.  Krementz & Company was a maker of fine brooches, cufflinks and other jewels from the late 1860s through the 20th century.
