Elegant North Star Cufflinks

Elegantly engraved gold cufflinks. (J9450)

North Star

Elegantly engraved North or compass stars framed by a border of flame-like acanthus leaves.  Rose garlands and a dentil meander also accent the golden stars.  These finely crafted cufflinks were created in 14kt gold circa 1920.

The backs of these cufflinks are as finely crafted as the fronts.  Note the sturdy cross bars and distinctive brackets that secure the cufflinks on the cuff.  The surfaces are polished to a smooth mirror-like finish and the edges gently rounded to ease the passage of the cufflinks through a button hole.  (Please excuse the dark reflections from the camera.)

The cross bars are stamped "14K" for the purity of the gold.  The maker of these cufflinks is unidentified, but has been nicknamed the "Rose Bracket maker" because of the distinctive, stylized roses which decorate the bases of the brackets.
