Fierce Lion Stickpin

Lion and diamond stickpin. (J9188)

Roaring Lion!

A lion roars while clutching a sparkling diamond in his mouth.  The lion's fierce aspect is accented with fiery red eyes (likely rubies or garnets).  Crafted in 14kt gold,  circa 1900.

The late Victorian and early 20th century delight in exotic and mythical creatures found expression in the jewels of the era.  This stickpin created by Taylor & Co. is an imaginative and wonderfully sculpted example.  Taylor & Co. created fine stickpins, cufflinks and other jewels from the late 1800s to the early 1930s.

The photograph below illustrates the sturdy and careful crafting of the stickpin.  The Taylor maker's mark and gold purity mark are stamped near the top of the lion's mane.

Cost:  Although this elegant stickpin has sold,  you will find many more fine stickpins in the Antique Stickpin Gallery.

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is  2 1/2" long and weighs 2.4 grams.  The lion measures  9/16" by  7/16".
