Intricate Art Deco cufflinks
with a touch of Machine Age chic. The white gold
centers are finely engraved with a pattern of rippling waves
divided by a yellow gold band of pinstripes and
dimples. The gold bands end in white gold terminals
with Chinese key motifs, all held together by yellow gold
borders of concentric circles.
The Art Deco era had a
passion for modern industrial design, streamlined
transportation and the aesthetic qualities of large machines
and tall buildings. These cufflinks elegantly capture the
spirit of the age. They are also a testament to the
ability of Machine Age cufflink makers to pack a lot of
design into a small space. Created by Wordley, Allsopp
& Bliss in 14kt gold circa 1925.
The backs of the cufflinks are crafted in 14kt yellow gold polished to a bright finish. (Please excuse the shadowy reflection of my camera.) The cufflinks are secured on the cuff with strong "bow tie" cross bars anchored with sturdy brackets.  One side of the cross bars is stamped with the maker's mark of Wordley, Allsopp and Bliss - "WAB". The firm was a maker of fine cufflinks and other jewels during the early decades of the last century, most notably during Art Deco era. Beneath the maker's mark is "14k" for the purity of the gold.
