Elegant Art Deco Cufflinks
Garlands and Swags II
| Art Deco cufflinks with garlands and swags
finely engraved on golden hexagons. The elegant effect is
completed with bold white gold borders decorated with geometric
and palmette motifs, all in the best Art Deco taste.
Created by Jacob Hookaylo in 14kt white and yellow gold,
The care and craftsmanship with which the Hookaylo workshop created these cufflinks can be seen on the reverse. Note the strong wing-form bridges and sturdy brackets that secure these cufflinks on the cuff. The backs are polished to a mirror-like finish, please excuse the shadowy reflections from the camera.
One side of the bridges is stamped with an "H" inside a horizontal lozenge, the maker's mark of Jacob Hookaylo. The opposite side is stamped with "14K" indicating the purity of the gold. Hookaylo was a Russian emigré who created elegant cufflinks in Newark, New Jersey during the 1920s and 1930s. His cufflinks are beautiful, miniature icons of Art Deco style and elegance.
